Last week, I wrote about keeping laminate clean and how difficult I found it to be. Since we installed the stuff eight years ago, I have been wishing I could go back to carpet, despite how much I dislike the thought that my flooring can never get completely clean. There’s a reason carpet is so popular – it is warm, comfortable and provides a nice cushion to walk and play on.
So this year, after wishing and regretting my decision for all of these years, we are taking the plunge and going back to carpet in the living room, hallway and bedrooms. I want my babies to be able to learn to walk without the hard crash of laminate, and I want to not have to wear shoes in the house all winter long because of the cold floor.
Although I expect I will have misgivings about the carpet once it is installed, it will sure be nice to have that softness again. What really sealed the deal in my mind was watching my toddlers react to the carpet in their grandma’s house. They absolutely love to play and wrestle around on it, and they will just hang out in the carpeted areas of the house like they can’t stand to leave it.
So, next time I write about keeping flooring clean, hopefully I will have come up with some great tips for keeping carpet immaculate with three small kids and two hairy dogs in the house. It will surely be a cleaning challenge!
