An excellent way to keep your bathtub looking new and to fight the buildup of that pesky ring around the bathtub is to annually wax your tub. The process can actually be done in two steps and can save you hours of work throughout the year. One thing to mention before you get started with these simple steps is that you only wax the sides, fixtures and walls. Waxing the bottom of the tub can make it too slippery to stand in safely.
Step One
Apply a simple car wax to the sides of your tub, fixtures and walls. Rub wax in to ensure that each spot is covered. You can use any type of car wax however I prefer to use a natural wax opposed to a synthetic. The price is a little more but well worth it for both your tub and your car or truck.
Step Two
Polish every place that has wax on it with a soft cloth. Make sure that you work quick enough to ensure that the wax is buffed out before it’s able to dry, if you don’t feel like you’ll be able to buff out your tub and walls before it has time to dry then you can break the job into smaller segments by only applying the wax on one section at a time.
One other thing to mention that can save you time and energy is that you can buff out the wax with an electric buffer, however I’ve never been comfortable with using one so you should probably only use an electric buffer if you’re comfortable with it and you have experience with using one.
