If you have pets, you know how frustrating this time of year can be. I have a Rottweiler mix, and I can’t believe how much hair she packs on when it looks so short, but in the spring, little tufts of hair play peekaboo beneath my feet and walk themselves around the house all day. It makes a person crazy! I have even seriously considered one of those automatic vacuum thingies, but that borders on the epitome of lazy to me, so I have refrained. I can’t say it isn’t tempting, though.
This time of year, when things start to warm and everyone is shedding their winter coats, I wish we lived a nomadic life still. We could just leave that swarm of hair behind and find a nice clean place to live. How nice that would be!
We used to have a longhaired cat whose hair would collect in the corners of the room, no matter how often we swept. More than once, I had to rescue a salamander that would get tangled up in her hair. Oh, the horror of longhaired animals!
The only real solution I have found is to brush your critters out thoroughly – outside mind you – at least once per day. This helps you get the hair where you want it to be, which is most definitely not on your floors and clothing.
Fortunately, the hair affair only lasts for a short time before they are shed out and ready for the lighter days of summer. I am eagerly looking forward to the end of hair season this year.
