Easy Clean Oven

To be honest, I hate cleaning the oven. Even more so when it has been a while since it's been done. Not always at the top of the list since it's easy to go with the out of sight out of mind routine, it still needs to be done.

Back to the caddy, grab your can of Easy Off. This first step is the easiest but when you do it, make sure that you are going to be dedicated to finish the job not matter how big of a mess your oven may be. Use the Easy Off to pre-spray even if your oven is only moderately dirty. This will make your clean up much easier and require a lot less scrubbing on your your part. Easy Off is great to use because it gets the job done and it doesn't have those dizzying fumes. It is virtually odorless and you won't even notice it while you are spraying or while it is sitting. Make sure to give every inch of the oven a good coating including the oven racks and the inside of the door. When you are done, close the oven door and take it easy for the rest of the night while the cleaner does the hard part breaking all the oven leavings down.

After an over night pre-spray, you'll need some news paper for the counter to set your oven racks on as well as for the floor where you'll be working. Give yourself plenty of coverage on the floor cause it can get messy and who wants to do extra cleaning if it's not needed? Next you'll need a roll of paper towels (unless you don't mind washing out rags repeatedly), your 5 in 1 and a Brillo scrubby. Begin by removing your oven racks and put them on the news paper covered counter until later. Wet a thick layer of paper towels with hot water and begin to wipe out what is now the slimy remains of the drippings that were once caked on inside. You can use the same paper towels a couple times if you rinse before throwing them out. Continue until all the Easy Off is removed from the inside of your oven. Don't worry if there are a few spots remaining. Pre-spray what's left and move on the the oven racks.

Start with one at a time in the sink. Get your hot water running as hot as you can stand it and place the rack in the running water. Most if not all the build up will rinse off on it's own. What doesn't come off will by using your Brillo scrubby. Repeat the same process with the other oven rack. When they are done, they almost always look like they are brand new. Rinse out your sink and set your racks aside on a clean surface and head back to the oven to finish up.

The spots that you gave a quick pre-spray to should be ready to come off now. Use your 5 in1 to scrape the areas rather than just wiping. These were tougher spots to get off so you are going to have to use a little more force to clean them up. If the 5 in 1 isn't doing it for you, use your scrubby instead. When you are done with the few tougher spots, wipe the remaining Easy Off out of your oven with hot, wet paper towels. You don't want to leave any behind because it can crust and permanently stain your oven the next time you use it. Replace your oven racks, throw away your news papers and you are done! (HINT: Use Easy Off for spot cleaning when you see the spot; they will come right off if they are fresh and it prevents build up!)
